about

Arguably their heaviest track to date, Saboteurs' new single observes the inherently strained libertarian response to Covid-19. With influences as diverse as New Model Army, Biffy Clyro and Thrice, 'Shame' is due for release on 4 December 2020.

Familiarly dark and brooding with a hypnotic groove, 'Shame' follows the band's 2018 debut EP and acclaimed 2019 LP, 'Dance with the Hunted'.
Lyrically, the track comments on the struggle within liberal democracies to reconcile the tension between civil liberties and the protection of society. And asks whether in fact, we are facing a Malthusian catastrophe as nature fights back against human population growth.

lyrics

You sit around and say it's a shame
but you're not us and we're not them

Oh god, you want your money back
So do I why don't you take it take it?
Oh god you want conspiracy
Alibi why don't you fake it fake it?

You sit around and try to disguise
Your vapour trails across the skies

So many people but no-ones to blame
When you can't breathe we're all the same

Oh god, you want your liberty
So do I why don't you take it take it?
Oh god you want conspiracy
Alibi why don't you fake it fake it?

We hold our hands into the flames
To watch us burn is such a shame

Behind the the mask I can't help but smile
I love myself while saving lives

Oh god the congregation cries
So do I, it's such a crying shame
